Well I got my first job with the 06 F-450 I bought Went to the pit to pick up a load of sand the climb up to the spot where they are screening the sand is steep. Get 3 yards approx put on the truck the load was 7068 lbs. Okay the automatic transmission is a big improvement it makes hill climbing easier I did a job today that would have been a real struggle with the 03 F-450 I have that has the 6spd. The downside of the automatic it freewheels down a hill even pulled in low gear. Second thing I noticed the 06 does handle a load better the stronger rear springs is noticable. I left the pit with a gross of 17,020lbs I was 1020lbs over weight With this truck my legal payload is going to be 6000lbs which is good my 03 was 1000lbs less. My main concern would the automatic help the power out problem and yes it did I'am happier than a pig in chit. Where I took the sand to has a driveway with a 12% grade to climb the truck did just fine very impressed. With the standard I would be crossing my fingers if I would make it without powering out. Had to buy new drive tires the other day 1800 dollars and I have new rubber for 4 tires. I had no choice the tires that came on the truck were shot they were borderline blow out. I was going to transfer the tires off my 03 which are 80% they didn't come off the rims easy which caused tire bead damage. I was told I was taking a chance I took the chance and ended up with damage. Removing 225/7019.5 tires isn't a easy task. This time I went with Bridgstone M729F a guy I know has been using them has gotten 2 years out of the. Excellant in snow and wet roads. Now its time to start advertising topsoil hauling I know the truck is going to climb the hills.
