Help for a newbie--Scag? Kubota? Hustler?

I have bed and breakfast with about 3 acres to keep mowed. Not going into the mowing business, but I need a heavy duty, realible ZTR to get this place mowed. Some hills, some rough ground--does not need to be highly manicured.

Friend says get a Scag, but even used the premium for those guys is pretty steep. Hustlers, Kubotas, Grasshoppers used with 60" decks are pretty easy to come by around here and more in the budget.

So, for the once-a-week mowing, still needs to be heavy duty and probably need a 60" deck, easy to maintain . . . do I suck it up and pay the premium for Scag, or can I save a couple grand and go with a lower-hour hustler or grasshopper. And for that matter, can I go with a Scag Wildcat, or do I really need to suck it up and get a Turf Tiger (used, of course).

Thanks for any help you can give an amateur.

Your location will help those in the know to make a better recommendation due to your grass varieties & climate.

What price range are you looking at? Any of those would be great mowers but Scag I think has the highest quality out of the three you named. Also check into the Ferris' for they would be nice to have if you have a lot of rough ground. Also the Snapper Pro is an excellent mower and are very resonable price wise new.

Anywhere from $4,000 to $7,000 used, of course lower is better.

You for sure would be able to get away with the wildcat. Any of the above mentioned machines will cut the grass and last a long time. You say it doesnt need to be highly manicured so pretty much anything you find will do the job and most likely exceed your expectations if you are coming off a garden tractor. I would say scag, but its all opinions and what is available. Any dealers real close by that are reliable?

You can get a brand new Snapper Pro 60" deck for $6500 here. Full warranty and new machine, that would be my choice. Plus Sheffield has 0% intrest financing.
