OK so 4 years ago I got into this feild and had a good thing going part time. Well my full time job told me to choose and offered a raise to stop mowing so I stopped mowing. Guess what this winter the full time job went under so now I can mow again, but have zero client base to start with. Equipment wise I am solid GMC K2500 4x4, 16' utility, New Lazer Z 60", and all stihl hand equip. Also have snow blade for the truck, but would love a boss v blade and new salt spreader for the next winter. So does anybody out there need a great sub or have some great tips on how to drum up some work. My target area is the hilliard, grove city, and surronding columbus ohio area. I would also love to find someone north of me that I can refer calls from up north to and him sothern calls to me. Thanks for all the advise in advance

Honestly (please do not take this rude I am sorry you lost your job) you have nothing better to do with your time so get out there and knock doors. I imagine that money might be a bit tight but if you have a couple hundred to spare:

1. Tons if business cards.
2. See if there is a local direct mail advertising magazine (many will take half down on ads and you may make their spring issue.
3. Get as many fliers and rubber bands as you can afford.

Then get out their and knock doors. If this is your plan to make it, then you know have a sun up till sun down job of getting your name out there.

Good Luck

i was in the same boat....kinda still am too. been workin as a sales manager for past few years. company went under. before that i was landscapin for 6 years for others and dont want to go back to that as i know i can do it on my own. Got my equpiment together and hit the advertising like no other. newspape, road signs, business cards, flyers, store hang-up flyers, truck magnets .ETC. gianed 8 weekly lawn accounts and 4 bi-weekly for now, so far in less than a month. i give my estimated lawn cut price at the top of the flyer and customers tell me that they loved how i did that. thats what made them call because they already knew the ballpark price to expect. some people on here dont like that, but hey its worked for me. also the newspaper helped me w/ some too. i hope i keep getting steady calls, ill be up to my target of 40 in no time! lol i hope
