Just bought new build home with no yard/grass. I've decided to hydroseed the lawn. Is there any benefit to combining traditional seeding (which I would do the day before the hydroseeding) AND hydroseeding???? Is this overkill? Would this be harmful or hurt the hydroseeding in anyway?? As you can tell, I want this lawn to be perfect. I feel there may be some benefit to having standard seed broadcasted and gently ranked into the lawn prior to the hydroseeding, but.... I'm no landscaper and have never put in a lawn. Would I be wasting my time??? Thank you in advance.

Great input. My plans are to wait until the heat of summer is finished. I was hoping to hydroseed in Early September. I fully anticipate that the lawn will take a few years to mature and fill in. My main concern was that I didn't want to disrupt the hydroseeding process by laying my own seed first (1 day OR same day the hydroseeding is done). As long as it won't hurt anything, I'll likely spread $100 of seed just prior to the hydroseeding. keep the input coming, very helpful.
