They both have diaphragms in their carburetors. Rotary valve means it doesn't have a butterfly valve.

I understood that, I guess what I meant was, is it the new carbs using the rotary valve that are having the problems with cold starts, or is it another factor?

There is NO perfect carb on any particular trimmer that start every time on the first pull. Some may be better than others on same model. I got four new Shinduawa 2510 and two strart real easy and the other two are clumkers. They got all these uint starting lean, so get one with low adjustment needle like Echo so you can tweek it to suit yourself.

I did some checking online and by looking at the parts lists, it seems that all the Kawasaki and Redmax trimmers that have gotten the most complaints for hard starting and long warm ups all share a common carburetor: the Walbro WYA series. I'm not saying that's the culprit; I'm just saying it's one of the common denominators.

Sure enough, the Kawasaki KGT27A that everybody saying is a great trimmer,
uses the Walbro WYJ series carburetor - while the Kawasaki KGT27B that
everybody says to stay away from, uses the Walbro WYA series carburetor.

Good find Merkava. I wonder how the WYK series fit in this picture.

Was at the dealer today where I bought my KGT27A in December. Ask him about the KGT27C. He was expecting to receive his first shipment of them today, but said that the only change from the "B" was the gas tank. Hope he's wrong!

A lot of the Shindaiwas use the WYK series.

Do those parts sheets say what carb series the KGT27C and KTF27A uses?
