I am looking for a software package that will allow me to print invoices in a "landscape" view instead of the typical "portrait" view.

Does anyone have, or does anyone know of any pre-packaged program that can do that for me?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Excel can do almost anything you want, if you know how to set it up. (I'm just learning it, but it's incredible and you set it up exactly how you want)

Thanks for your input. I am looking for a program package that also does things like Accounts receivable/payable. Work tracking, lead generation and other service things that programs like q-xpress or Gopher will do.

I can see that my original post was not clear enough, but I still value your input.

I operate in Michigan, and I will want to buy and install over the winter. Once spring starts, I will be too busy to spend the time necessary making a new program work.

I have about 100 customers right now, and I expect to have more in the coming season, the system I have now is already over loaded. What I am saying is that I need to move soon, and the sooner the better.

I want to maintain "continuity of presentation" with my existing customers and keep using the same or only slightly different paper work. This is important to me.

Please keep "working on an invoice designer", and if possible get it available before next spring.

Mr. No shoes,

Why do you want it in landscape view. I understand you want the continuity. So are you currently sending invoices in landscape view? With what?
"Mr. No shoes" that’s funny, you made my day already :D

I used a landscape view for my original invoice/work order/remittance paperwork for 2 reasons. First I was able to fit all three onto an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, and they all fit fine and I was able to make everything look good, by using perforated paper. Perhaps I can email you my present invoice so you can understand better.

Also, it is easier to write on a clipboard in my work van, holding the clipboard sideways, then lengthwise.

Your second question, yes, I my present invoice is in landscape view, and I use a hodgepodge of several applications in the Microsoft office suite to make them. It is a lot of work and after we make the invoices, we need to redo some of the work in QuickBooks in order to track the work, and handle the money.

I want to streamline my invoice generation, work tracking, and payment receiving efforts into one program that will print invoices in my landscape view.

I hope I have answered your questions.

So I'm envisioning invoice/work order/remittance on ONE paper. That is interesting. And i'm guess may some of it was created in Excel and some in Word to come together on one sheet.....

Yea, I would enjoy seeing it. I' pm to you for email. If you would like I can try to drop it into a pdf for others to see on here.

I will start emailing a blank invoice to the people who request it.

I hope when you see it you will find why I am reluctant to change it around.

The dotted lines are where the perforations are.

I kind of feel like I am giving away something of value here, and maybe even helping my competition by sharing it. I hope I don’t see my local competition start using my invoice layout with their logo on it…

If you want to email me directly for an invoice, send mail to

Mr. Barefoot.
Thanks for e-mail. Since you offered to e-mail to those interested I wont't post it. That way you can have more control over who sees it. If you are worried about others stealing the idea slap a copyright line on it. Then you could have an arguement for ownership. But given your description of using Access and such I doubt most operators would be able to replicate the functionality that you have done. Nice job. I consider myself fairly computer literate but Access is something I have never worked much with it.

As far as the format, I'm gonna digest for it awhile.

Please give me any feedback on the design. Keep in mind that I run a lawn fertilizing/turf pest control operation only and the invoice is designed for that and billing at the time of service. All my mowing, landscaping and aeration work is subcontracted out, and handled differently.

I hope I made a case for the landscape invoice, can you see why I am reluctant to change?

I have received many requests for a sample of my invoice.

If you have sent mail to me inquiring about the invoice and do not hear back from me for more then one day, please resend email with "second request" in the subject line. It seems that I have lost track of who I sent what to and in what format.

Thanks.

if you are using quickbboks go to customize invoice, click on service invoice, then printer option. you can set it to print in the landscape form.

To add to Mr. Forbes, last time i seriously used QB, i seem to remember the invoices to be incredibly customizable. Mr Barefoot, i suspect that you would be able to get the set up you want from quickbooks

QuickBooks (as I presently understand it) does not meet all my needs (hence the reference to Q-xpress).

Even if QuickBooks can print the invoices in the landscape view, it can't make the "invoice/work order/remittance" combo on one sheet.

I have spent more then my fair share of money and time trying to force a solution from QuickBooks. I admit that I am not a “QuickBooks Guru” but I am satisfied that I need more then what they can offer.

On the other hand, if you have some knowledge or insight that I don't, then I am all ears...
