When hiring a part-time employee, what information is required? Obviously, name, address, s.s.#, and driver's license are first. But then what?

I guess what I'm looking for is good advice on other areas such as safety responsibilities, equipment responsibilities, customer service responsibilities, etc.. If an employee gets a rock in the eye because he was trimming with no safety glasses, loses a trimmer, or blows debris all over a customer's vehicle, I don't want him coming back and saying "We never talked about that".

Any and all help would mean a lot. Thanks all.:)

My best advice is to create an employee handbook where you can lay it all out. Put down all your expectations i.e no shirts off, must wear eye protec when trimming, absence policy etc. It might seem a little overboard for one part time guy but its something tangible you can reference. You will need one when you have multiple guys working and if thats the direction your buss is headed might as well start now.
