Hey guys, got a Honda HRC216HXA Commercial. Mower is in great shape other than after doing a very hilly account the other day, the left-side drive wheel does not engage. The right side operates normally, and the left side will come up to speed if the mower is lifted off the ground when the bar is pressed. I can see the axle spinning down there. Is there some kind of teeth or something like a flywheel on a bike? I remember that both sides used to click if you pushed the mower forward while the engine was off. Now only the right side clicks forward. Left side will still click if you spin the wheel backwards. What is the part called that I need? Thanks guys!

Get me the serial number off the back of the mower deck; it is in the form of MXXX-1234567. I can look up service details. There was a Service Bulletin way back in August 2000 about a broken ratchet receiver, which would explain the problem of "no drive" to a single wheel. The serial number range is 6120202-6170000. All after that got the improved ratchet receiver and should be fine. Look at the attached image from the shop manual and verify all the parts are there and intact, in particular the pawl assembly and pawl receiver:

Caveat: I work for Honda, but the preceding was my opinion alone.

It says MAKA-1089730. It also says the Model is an HRC2163HXA. I didn't include the 3 before. Don't know if that makes a difference. Thank you very much for the help!

I have one too. Just started, Mower is around 6 years old. How hard is it to just replace both wheels and the wear parts. I am thinking if one side goes, you fix one the other is now the weak one? I will go look up the SN. Also wondering about where to order the parts. It also needs some control handles.

Going to buy another one and put this on up as a back up unit.

Is this the part that we need to fix our "one-wheel drive" Honda Commercial mowers?................anyone?

Ok so it was not a broken gear or pawl assembly. I pulled the wheel assembly apart this morning and found that the assembly was caked with old, nasty, sticky grease. It was to the point that it would not let the pawls spring out to grab the teeth. I cleaned it all up, very lightly greased the assembly and then put it back together. And voila! It works great! Easy fix after I figured out what the heck was wrong with it.
