Our local technical college ofers horticulture classes. I would like to take a turf management course starting in January and ending in May but it only meets during the day. I think I will be too busy this spring to take the course. Does anybody know of any good correspondence type courses for horticulture? Even a good reference book would be very helpful. Thanks.

Not as academic, but the Lawn Bible by David Mellor is a good starting book. I got a ton of books from Amazon - but most of mine deal with the business aspects of it. I did see a huge amount of horticulture/turf books as well. It all depends on how techinical you want to get.

I will say this. I took a horticulture class and learned a great deal, but honestly if you don't need the degree, I learned just as much from reading books and the internet as I did in class. The good thing about class is you can network and learn who your competition might be. :p
