Years ago you could put an ad in the paper put out a few flyers, some signs on corners etc and get all you needed. I want to expand my mowing company but this area is beyond way too many lawn services. The economy is very good here and prices go from cheap(don't get me started about tight wad commercial job bids)to a good living for prices. I have a first class operation customers always like me and in 27 yrs never lost accounts from poor quality. What I need to know is what works for you advertising etc? I'm amazed at ways to get the word out and even free won't get their attention. I would like to expand to 150 weekly lawns in 5 years. Way back you could do it in 2 years. Omaha has more ads in phone book than Chicago does for lawn care. I need advise. I pretty much know all the tricks but they don't seem to work. I'm also talking home owner lawns. I even offer my customers $50 each time they refer me someone for weekly mowing and no results. Any ideas?? Thanks Lance

any time you got somewhere where there is a bulletin board put a couple cards up in a fan shape which will help your cards get noticed more. other than that advertise everwhere you can also go by the saying "if its free its me"
aka craigslist and other free web spaces. also yellow book i think is worth its weight in gold. i got a 1''x2'' ad, a space on their website and my own website for 34$ a month through a promontion and its good for almost 2 years.

:hammerhead:Same thing happened in my home town last year. A guy put his add in the papper "any yard in Dothan $19.99". Never got another call last year and the guy was gone in about 8 weeks with his customers saying "he did it why can't you". My answer was "and you see he's not doing it any more and he can't be found". His customers really thought they could get somebody else to do it for the same price.

Isn't that the definition of insanity...? Doing what you've always done and expecting a different outcome?

This guy has been doing the same thing for almost 30 years. I'd say if you haven't figured it out in 30 years you are as good as it's gonna get.

Find someone in your area that is successful and ask them how they did it.
