Like most of you labour is a big expense that can make or break a profitable year. In the past we have paid by the hour but we are now toying with a "piece work" or "production pay" system that allows several benefits: 1. The ability to control costs on a fixed price job. (no sitting around, no padding hours, no excessive warming up in the truck etc.) 2. The ability for productive and efficient employees to benefit from their hard work and make a larger wage for being good at what they do. Sharing in the success with incentives. In the end, we all have to make money. Does anyone have a system that works well for them? Let's discuss.
