How long does your season last?

between what months do you cut? I have a 5-6 month period what I cut. I usually start between beginning of May and end half way in October. I really wish I lived somewhere where I could cut year long or at least like 9 months. Thinking about maybe moving somewhere after High School and opening a company. I'm pretty commited to this lawn mowing buisness. What do you guys think?

Same here...and we plow too.
9-1/2 to 10 months here with Spring and Fall cleanups. Last year was only 8-1/2 months because of December's rotten weather.
Late March to Mid November.

Why move, work your tail off in the season and vacation in the winter. Ask John Gamba to show you some pics.

Ditto
Growing Season ==> April thru October ==> Mowing of all turf areas once a week

Dormant Season ==> November thru March ==> Mowing of all turf areas once every other week or as needed to maintain a neat overall appearance

Approx 40-42 cuts yearly
In the recent past the mowing season started in mid April and lasted to about the end of October. THere is spring and fall cleanups which take it to early April through early December. Last fall, we had 4 inches of snow on Dec 2 which ended the season, and in the spring we had another snow fall on April 7th, which pushed back the start to the end of April. It varies. I calculate for 26 weeks of mowing.

:D
We usually bgin clean-ups late February, and commercial mulching in March. Mowing commences sometime in April, and go thru end of October or mid November. Our fall clean-ups last thru beginning or middle of January. We take 4-6 weeks off at most, but I prefer having a few jobs to carry us through the winter when we're not plowing.
how interesting. . up here, in the better part of jersey, we start cleanups in march, mowing from april-mid october, cleanups till mid december

I was 99% sure who I thought you wanted to annoy...now it's 100...LOL
We're usually mowing May to Oct. Last year we were still doing leaves in the middle of December because they took forever to fall. We start doing clean-ups in March unless there's still a lot of snow.
:) Start spring cleanups in early March, then mowing in late March mow up untill mid Oct, then fall cleanups, usually around 9-1/2 or 10 Months of work, don't get much snow down here in southern Indiana, nice to get that 2 month rest........Marks Mowing Service
42 mows a year. Pending rain in winter I average every other week from nov- march, with leaves triming planting I can work year round. BUT that also means no vacation. Most LCO's only cut 1x a month from oct - mar. that is where I pick up most of my winter work is cuting when they are vacationing.
we try to work 54 weeks a year:D :D :D

we mow on average 42 weeks ( march- nov.) finish up leaves ( nov - jan) start clean ups and mulch in feb.

everything stays a lot cleaner when you work year round, plus it easier to keep the same crew.

Bump them up a few weeks. 2 or 3 week in April wouldn't hurt. Then keep them blades cutting until the leaves are gone.

Hey, is it true that farm ground can't be sold for other uses any more up there? Heard a few rumors.
Most contracts are worded until the end of October. There is always lawns that grow past that, but things really slow down when Novmber comes around.
Late april to end of sept. for mowing. A month of clean ups in the fall, then I plow if we actually get some snow this year.
Cleanup starts in March, mowing contract starts April 1st weekly (mulching) through October 30. If weather permits of course.
