How low can you go with herbicide rates?

For all the ride-on users. With using only 8-10 gal / acre for your broadleaf herbicide mixes, at what rate can you go down to and be effective and get good kill. I have been using 3.25 pints / acre with good results. Standard 3-ways labels usually state 3-4 pints / acre. We are using Z-sprays with nozzles every 20" so we get very uniform coverage with fine droplets. It's a hot mixture so can you use less herbicide?

Shouldn't make a difference...same amount of chem over same area...one just has more carrier.
