i have about 30 regular.. most are over an acre.. and i do about 10 one or two time cuts a month. i also have a full time job.. there now.. i've managed to get only 8 hrs of sleep this week so far.

im part time also, service 40 something weekly, and ferts, trimming, mulch, small installs, and whatever else needs to be done. its only mid july, and i can barely stand up( or could that be the coors lite), anyhow, chef huh? i do a little cooking myself, what do u cook?

I have like 18 or something. Make about $500-600 a week. Best summer job I can find for the hours (me no likey work).

How many I have is irrelevant, it's how much money I make per an hour.

I average $44.18 an hour with a total overhead and taxes of just over $18.00 an hour on 38 customers.

Ditto...the number changes each month. But it's how much I get to keep per hour (bottom line results on our P & L Report) I'm more interested in.

Honestly i have no idea how much i make an hour. I always figured the number of hours i work, if i were to figure that out i would pry cry .... lol!

I think I make right around $35 an hour including driving time. Not bad if you ask me. I'm only 19, so anything is better than working for a store or something, I couldn't do that!

You have to assume a 40 hour week year round to put it in "average terms". Divide your gross by 2080 hours and you have an hourly wage compared to the "normal working world".

It is fun to have a high gross dollar per hour wage, but if you have lots of equipment expenses, that net wage can be ugly!! I always disagreed with the people who say "if I figured my hourly based on actual hours worked it would be scary", becasue there ar no jobs that would allow you to work that much anyway.

You could not work at McDonalds at $7.00 and then work 80 hours a week. So self-employment, or semi-self employment is the "price" you pay to be able to work more and potentially make more.

34 residential regulars, 1 church, lots of brush clearing jobs and extras. $45hr solo, $60 w/ helper.

I agree with LGF, I avg 43.60 per man hr, i have 2/3 commercial, and it adds up quick, took over 14yrs to get what i wanted though, One complex i have only takes me solo 2hrs/45min-210.00 per week i have several jobs through this one person, he ownes alot of property. Marks Mowing Service

I don't think that the number of accounts is that important. Its the size of the accounts and the number of additional services that you can sell to your current customers. You might only have 20 customers, but you sell them the whole deal and you make more off from those 20 than you would with 50.

Depends how you count accounts. I have about 60 customers that I consider active. Of these, there are 20-some regular mows, most of which I do all of the maintenance minus applications for. The rest of my accounts I only do things like clean-ups, hedges, plowing or periodic/annual mowing for.

I also maintain more than one property for a few of my accounts, so the number of lawns I have is different than the number of accounts.

So to answer your question more succinctly, I have too many accounts, but not enough good ones. I'd rather have 20 customers keeping me busy than 60!

I do about $45 an hour. I do this about 35 to 40 hrs a week and have a part time job also. I do about 60 residential accounts and I am a solo op.

10 paying customers, and I do our house in exchange for room and board (LOL) and part of the church's lawn as a donation. Takes one FULL day to do them all....a squeeze but it can be done if I don't mind working a 12 hr. day. Often I work 1 1/2 days. But some of them are bi-weekly, so really it's a full day one week, then the next week either a long day or reg. day then a half day. Make around $40/hr AVERAGE. Some lawns are too low where I make an average of $25 an hour on, some are real $$$ makers where I make an average of $100 an hour on. One of the low ones I do mainly as a helping neighbor but they pay me $20 (takes an hour, sometimes less), they are older and honestly don't have alot of money.

less than 2% is not full service.


I do twice the amount of work than some with the same number of accounts that I have. I do more work than some with twice the number of accounts I have.



It's not a matter of how many customers or even the amount of money I make. I do and have what everyone else wants in this business.
