How many hours can a good ztr engine usually hold up for?

Isn't it safe to say 3000 to 4000 on an engine with proper maintanence? I've had a 48 wb 13 hp that I've since 1995 and it still runs strong. I have no idea how many hours are on that beast. What would you say your machine is good for in terms of hour life?

I believe the engine will outlast everything else on todays mowers. With better filtration, and overall better, higher HP engines, they are lasting longer and not working as hard.

I myself want to see a new ZTR every 4 years, so hours are only something that the next owner needs to worry about.

Ok, let me ask this then. How many hours are you roughly putting on your ztr and how many hours are you working per week?

If I only put on like 150 hours in a season and run through 4 seasons, thats only 600 hours. The things still new almost, I would think. If you can pull 3000 hours from an engine, I would think I could have this thing for 10-15 years. LOL

I had a 13 hp wb for 9 years and that thing still works well.

Pro magazine had an article about this. They said that a gas engine should last 100 hours for every horse it has. Example; 25 horse power would last 2500 hours. Diesels engines should last 125 hours for every horse power that it has.

I think that would realy deppend on the owner (service intervals etc) and the conditions that the engine is sussepted to throughout its life (load etc)
We could sit here till the cows come home talking about how many hours are on your machine or his machine or my machine or how long the MFG thinks it might last and still would not be able to say how long an engine is going to last.
Mabey an approximate of how many hours you'll get for a certain engine (MFG, year modle etc ) could be a reasonable question but this is VERY broad question that will never have a real answer I think.

It's a good question but not one that can be answered with any real certainty
