how many % return on advertising

    I was wondering how much % you guys usually get back on simple flyer inserts in the local paper. Simple with black ink and neon paper? Im in the Detroit Area. Thanks let me know if you think a nice 4 color advertisement is worth it.

    I had a professional, glossy flyer made and had a 1.5% return on 1500 flyers. Not to bad but I will be going to direct mail next year.

    I've always heard you figure on getting 1% back.

    first flyer in the ink.. neon green paper, inserted into local newspaper.... 4000 flyers, 14 new clients.... now i know that is very high, but it is a very small town.... and many people where unhappy with one of the local LCO's..... he was tearing up the yards something awful with his z.....

    the rest of the 25 from the year came from word of mouth from those first 14

    I spent over 10 years in the insurance business, made my living off of newspaper inserts. .5 % allways, never seemed to matter small town or large town. Lawn care is different, it is easier to sell, MUCH easier. I get 4 or 5 % from most flyers, door hangers etc. Not much competition in my area though.

    how many days after u put the flyers / doorhangers do u expect calls ? same day? next day? next week ? usually (rough amount of time ? ) that it takes for calls to kick in ?

    I usually get some estimates and customers when putting them out. Last week picked up two customers that day, handed out about 50 is all that day, I was training a new applicator. Calls come in all of the above, next day, same day, even 6 months later. Different people are in different stages of "need". Today, got two calls, one from last week's flyers, and one from yesterday's flyers.

    Hi smarino21,

    I think you will get more bang for your buck with your more simple advertisement than a nice 4 color advertisement.

    After 16yrs in the business I think word of mouth and nice clean lettered up trucks seems to work for us
