Discussion in 'Christmas Trees & Seasonal' started by MIKE72K, Oct 30, 2007.
I was wondering how many trees you guys sell in a season and when you start to sell cut trees.
Can anyone help.
Mike, kind of a tuff question to answer.
Easy answer is I try to sell all of 'em. I have sold any where from 300 to 1200.
being done from the 15th of December to hauling 250 to the brush dump.( 1 time, no fun) last year 6 small fir left.
also I am more then willing to sell the first tree as soon as the first person with cash shows up after the truck is unloaded.
you really need to know your area AND plan ahead.
my grower requires a 25% deposit Sept. 15th
location and quality are everything!!!
Thanks for th info. The biggest thing as far as time you start is when you get your shipment in.
thursday b4 Thanksgiving has been our "norm" for sometime now.
like there's anything normal regarding tree sales.
sell a half dozen b4 Thanksgiving, have sold trees on Thanksgiving day b4. Always nice to pay for the turkey!
we always started thanksgivin weekend.
for the past 3 years we started thanksgiving weekend and have done jack those weekends. This year I will be set up for display but we will not be starting full time until 11-28. Then it is 9a to 12p till xmas. In years past I have sold between 300 and 900 trees in a season. and I have had a little as no trees left and as many as 250 trees left. With last year the worst by far.
I got a load of bad trees from Nova Scotia I had to wind up chipping over 350 trees. The needles were falling off 2 weeks prior to xmas. I tried to complain to the guy that sold them to me but he was not having it. I did not have a leg to stand on b/c I paid him at time of delivery. That will never happen to me again. I set it up this year with my new supplier 1/2 on the delivery date 1/2 before 12/31.
There are alot of things to consider when selling trees. Are you planning on selling stands? Will you sell the greens also wreaths, swags, grave blankets, roping?
By far location is the most important factor. If you are close to a home depot or other box store you better have rock bottom prices?
