I live in Michigan. We have always been a design build company up until this year. We have to bid on a few commericial installs, but they all want maintenance contracts figured in to the bid.

My question is how many mowings should I figure in per year. I can figure out how much time we will spend mowing, and the fertilizing etc. But to be honest I really never pay much attention to the mowing side of things. I was thinking between somewhere around 35 mowings, but I dont want to undershoot or overshoot the thing. We are going to make pretty good money on the install part, so I just want to give a good honest quote on the mowing side.

    Any help would be appreciated.

In Michigan I would expect to mow from April through the End of September, basically 6 months. I recomend a flat rate per month. Figure $60 per acre, per cut. Since you already make good money on the Landscaping you might be able to bid it at $50 per acre, per cut. Then take your per cut price X 4 cuts per month X 6 Months.

    A one acre lot is:

    $50/acre X 4 cuts = $200 per month X 6 months = $1200 per season

you can also include a clause to cover an extended season if you mow into October that far North.
