I'm looking at getting a skidsteer for the small-medium sized landscape jobs that we do.
I'd like to get a smooth bucket, tooth bucket, and pallet forks.
I found a machine today that is a yr 2000 Bobcat 753.
2400 hours on engine, really good condition, everything has been changed and serviced every 100 hours, and greased every 2nd day of use. It seems like it's in really good shape. New tires as well. It has a 60" tooth bucket on right now, and only comes with that one bucket. 40 - 43hp I believe.
The owner wants $11,500. He has been the only owner, and he owns a small rental shop here in town. His equipment is in real good shape from what I saw.
yeah i know why hes been trying to sell it for 2 months he nuts thinking hes going to get 11,500 with 2400hrs. does this machine have cab and heat? if not i wouldnt give hime anymore then 7,500
That is extremely overpriced... in fact I would go so far as to say he is smoking something. Check craigslist... you should be able to find one for around 5-8k easily.
I would try to find a Case 1840... I buy and sell skid steers on the side... and I would have to say that machine is much more comfortable than an older bobcat. Those older bobcats are jerky and are work to operate. Go try a Case 1840... I think you will be really impressed. They have a 54hp cummins, hand controls(very smooth), and are very easy to work on. You should be able to find one for about 7-9k.
Or if you can spend 15k you could probably get a nice Cat 236 or 246 on ironplanet. In fact, I know of a Cat 236 w/ 1500 hrs w/ a harley rake in Missouri for sale for 15k. The machine looks super clean.
That does sound over-priced to me. The good thing about that 753 though is they're just about bullet proof. I'm pushing 3,300 hours on mine, and I know of a lot of people with newer machines who have spent a lot more money on repairs for there machines than I ever have. That being said, it lacks a lot of the features / comforts of a newer machine, and I do find it a bit jerky.
It'll get the job done, but by the end of a full day in that machine you'll feel pretty worn out. I'd make a lower offer on it and see what the guy says.
Way, way, way overpriced. That machine was probably $18-19K new, $11,500 with 2400 hours? That dude is on some good shizz.
