we are a small 2 crew company just wondering how much others are spending.
I spend close to 6 grand a yr on advertising
how big of a company are you if you don't mind me asking
how big of a company are you if you don't mind me asking? i am just trying to see if i am on par for my size
I have around 75 weekly customers that I do solo. I used to have a couple employees but it costed me more having them doing then work then doing it myself. I plan to remain solo until I get over 100 weekly customers and can't do all the work myself
how big do you want to go? i want to go from 20 to 60 cutomers this year i will spend 300 on 12 sings 300 on flyers for 1000. i will spend time and gas to put them out. if you have to many people calling you can pick chose the customers. last year i put out about 300 flyers in the sping got 22 spring clean up and 8 weekly mowings. that cost $10 for gas $30 for flyers (made at other job). i all so spent 400 on a ad in a cupon book that gets mailed to 150000 homes and only got one good cutomer and about 100 call just price fishing. that was a pain in the you know what. lot of time and money wasted on that. hope that might help some. happy mowing
I don't think id go the coupon book route because you'll be targeting customers who are looking for the cheapest LCO. Doing flyers is the cheapest as long as your dedicated to doing them yourself and not trying to hire a local kid to hand them out for you because most likely the flyers will end up in the trash
The newspaper gets your business out to alot of homes and while your ad is running in the paper you can be out handing out flyers as well.
I spend right around 2000 on average this year will be close to 4000. I have averaged 10 good mowing accounts per year off 2000 and roughly 25000 in one time job work. I am hiring at least one full time employee this year and hoping for 2. Next year I will probably do at least 4000 in advertising and hire 2 more guys. I am looking at a post card company now to target specific areas. For our whole area it cost 2700 for one mailing and that is way to much since I don't service all those areas. My rule of thumb has been to spend between 2-5% projected gross pending how large you want to grow.
I have been in business for years so don't need to spend alot so my advertising buget is around $2000.00. I still do the same advertising I used to but now my ads are smaller so it saves me a bunch of money.
