Just curious what others would charge to see if I'm in the ballpark.

Dig up and pull weeds from about 600 sq ft. of neglected beds.

Put down about 60 cubic yards of mulch, shredded cedar, supplied by me.

Trim seven cedar "trees" up about 2 feet from ground.

Trim dead branches and low branches from 4 trees (pine, lilac, maple).

    Install 20' of plastic edging.

Took 3 people 14.5 hours total.

Also had to trim the lawn. Older guy (90's), does the riding but has me trim the lawn. I know you can't guess that into it being you don't see the lawn. I would just like to know a guesstimate from other people.

I dislike coming up with a price for the simple reason that this is a very extensive job and there aren't enough facts to determine how accurate the 60 cubes of mulch is for starters...

Maybe 20 would do it, maybe 8-10 for all I know...
Because 60 cubes of mulch would fill half a driveway, we're talking a tractor trailer load, just about.

So, go measure the area, determine square footage, then divide this by somewhere between 170 and 190 depending how much work you feel like doing (170 is more mulch, 190 is a thinner spread - either way is work), and there's your cube figure, roughly.

As for the other part, no self-respecting Lco cultivates weeds, thou from time to time someone asks me to do it, too.

The job is done already, I was just figuring out his bill. He is a regular customer (since I started) so I do things I wouldn't necessarily do for someone else. I was just curious if I was in line with my prices.

Did you say you supplied the mulch ? edging ? and it took 3 of ya 14 hrs. ?
I cant see how ya made any money at all , If me and I supplied mulch and edging I would have charged about $1800.00 please break down your cost

    Is my thingking correct?
    1 cu yd = 27 cu ft
    27 cu ft / cu yd X 32 cu yd = 864 cu ft
864 cu ft is 864 sq ft. of area 1 ft. deep

Yard had 600 sq ft. of beds
    864 / 600 = 1.44

Therefore, to put down 32 cu yds, the mulch was 1.44 ft. deep (approx. 17 1/4 inches).

    Was it actually 32 bags?
