i was wondering how often do you grease your equipment. ?
Depends on the grease point, the machine in question, and the number of hours since the last grease job.
Trimmer heads... every 25 hours roughly
Deck spindles... every 20 to 25 hours for added insurance.
Ztr front wheels, 50 hours
Ztr front castors, 80 to 100 hours
Deck pivots/linkage... 50 to 100 hours maybe.
I don't have a specific answer, but for me the simple fact is I don't do it enough across the board. Some need more frequent attention than others as listed above.
Riders and WB, every oil change or about 100 hours.
Bark blower, daily
Trucks, every oil change, especially the dump bodies pivots
Trimmer gear heads and stick edgers, once a year
Hedge trimmers, every sharping
Drills, just before spring flower, fall mumms and winter pansy
Push spreaders, as needed.
Everything else, once a year. Hose reels, snow blowers, seeders, salters, bobcat etc.....
What kind of grease are y'all using for your trimmers?
Same as all of my equipment Lucas red n tacky.
I use Valvoline GM Chy Eur Jap Multi Purpose grease, it's just the a good red grease. Price is right if you buy in bulk.
Waterproof Green Grease is all i will use. I've put it through the torture tests offroading and with extreme angle drivelines... it has preserved bearings in situations where other grease have failed. www.greengrease.net
Some guys where I work think the equipment greases itself
Then the boss is wondering why we have to do thousands of dollars worth of repairs.
important thing related worth mentioning....I bought a dewalt cordless grease gun and that thing is money for improving efficiency when doing multiple pieces of equipment with zerks on it.
