Guy at Home Depot said to wait a week because the seeds will fall into the holes and they will die. Any truth to that?

I have and always will do it immediately after. Some will fall too deep, but the rest will fall in and germinate perfectly. You don't want the holes to fill I before you sees

Why do people even ask a stock boy in a box store. Good to see you second guessed him. I usually do it immediately after with a good starter fert as well.

Should I put starter fertilizer right after I seed? like should I seed, fertilizer, then water..

    Or seed, water, then fertilize?

apply it all at the same time, then water away.............just dont use weed control before or during the seeding process. most have a 2-4 week wait period after applying, in case you were unaware for seeding, and not until after the new grass has been mowed twice or so
