How to avoid tearing up ground while using a zero-turn?

You tube it. I typically make 1 or sometimes 2 perimeter passes depending on the yard. To clean up the stripes, go back around the perimeter again on the way out.
This is key...I always make 2 passes around the perimeter. Gives you all the room you need to make a controlled turn.

I don't always make 2 laps for the turns but I'd the lawn is really out of square I do what is needed in order to make the longest parallel runs I can. Then move it over about a wheel the next mow to prevent ruts and wear down areas. Then will occasionally switch the pattern up altogether.

I was taught to make sure your back wheel is not spinning when you make a zero turn. Do this in conjunction with a Y turn and I do not get any divot marks. I used to get divots and it was because my back wheel was spinning when I made my zero or Y turn. Try it

Didn't read the whole thread but if you're on slopes always make your turns uphill. It keeps the weight on the rear wheels, adds control and reduces spinning.
