How do I check and/or adjust my blade belt tension on a 36" Metro??
The deck belt should have 10 lbs. of tension with 1/2" deflection. To measure this you'll put belt tension scale (I use a fish scale) on the belt and pull it toward you until it reads 10 lbs. The belt should only move 1/2" at 10 lbs. If it moves more then you must loosen the jam nut on the engagement turn buckle to increase the belt tension. If you move the blade engagement linkage back and forth you'll find the blade engagement pulley. The turn buckle is mounted to the same arm as the engagement pulley. Once you've double checked the adjustment simply tighten the jam nut and replace the belt shield.
The manual explains it a little better than I can.........it has the advantage of a very good illustration.
