How to color herbacides?

I need to put down some herbacide, possibly one of the Tri-mecs, but this is more a general question than specific to Trimec.

I notice when professionals (home or golf course) put down chemicals, it generally is colored green or blue. I assume that this is simply dye that is added so they can see where they have already sprayed. This seems like it would be very handy.

Is there something that can be added to trimec, image, msma, etc. to color it to keep track of exactly what areas I have already treated so I don't have to just try and figure out which areas are wet.

Lesco sells both a blue and a green dye that can be added to the mix to show where you sprayed. They say the color on the lawn doesn't last very long.......I'm not sure, I haven't used it yet.

    good luck,

The lesco product is called tracker.

It dissolves during the next rainfall.

Does anyone know of a mail order product similar to Lesco's Tracker? I live several hours away from the nearest Lesco, and am not sure when I will be able to get to that area of the state.

    just contact lesco.
I'm sure they'd be happy to ship it for you.
    Be careful with that stuff.
It is true it washes out with rain and breaks down in sunlight by the way.
But in the mean time, IT STAINS EVERYTHING!
I still use it though. Just remember a little bit goes a long way.

I was looking at an A M leonard catalog and saw the dye in it also, amleco.com, I have never ordered from them so I dont know how good/bad they are.

How about things like clothes and fences. Does it wash out/off, or does it permanently stain anything?

I have run into the stuff on golf courses (usually blue) and have never had anything permanently stained, even if I have gotten it on my shorts or socks.

I've never had anything permanently stained.
    Just darn messy sometimes.
If you use a back pack be sure it is sealed when you tighten down the cover.
If not, it will wash out eventually.
