How to kill Bahia grass and not St. Augustine

Hi All, I'm new to the site. I am glad I found it. My problem is, I have a prospective client that looks to have Bahaia grass growing all over his St. Augustine lawn. I am pretty sure it is Bahaia because he used to have Bahaia killed it, and planted St. Augustine. He wants the "weed" out of his lawn. The question is can I get rid of the Bahaia without killing the St. Augustine? How?

That's a good thought, Kerry, and even though it's a bit off-topic, I'd like to weigh in on that. If the P&F forum becomes restricted to only licensed PCO's, how will the unlearned be ed-oo-cated? I have to say that the emphasis placed on being licensed that I found in this forum played a big part in my becoming a licensed PCO.

Yaaaa! Ric and all his macho buddies are just jealous because they cannot use sex appeal to sell whatever to put on a lawn. It doesn't matter whether you are licensed or legal, whether you are being intelligent or environically resonsible.

You can make a killing applying baby powder to lawns if you show enough T & A! ;) To heck with PPE specs. payup

I just don't know guys. I think I'll try the short shorts and tight T-shirt today. Maybe her tip will work.

I think this is why it should be off limits to non licensed people. This is just irresponsible. God frobid you ever find out the hard way why the ppe is needed.

With some of the chemicals I use you wouldnt have that T & A for long.

Split the forum into 2 . One for licensed LCO's and one for non-licensed.
At least in the non licensed forum their questions could be asked and answered as long as it does not give advice as to what chemical to use or how much.
In North Carolina I cannot make recommendations to others unless they are licensed or my customer.

Mr Jim

5'6" and 125 lbs I will turn 63 in just two weeks. I can still do cart wheels and walk on my hands. The fact is I have many widows as customers, some quite young. I am not the least bit ashamed to wear a bathing suite in public. Do a search in the off topic form and find the picture of me on top of a Alligator. Oops time change the oxygen bottle and e-mail a friend from the Great War (WW I).

Splitting the forum into a CPO section has Its advantages and advantages. Freedom of the written word is an American Ideal. This forum would have to be a members only and I don't think that would fly. The Real answer to the problem is to make all pesticides RUP. The agi lobby is the largest and Chem Mfg are part of that lobby. The almighty dollar rules.

I'll always have the last laugh, cause I got the T & A. Ask your mom, or your significant other (and I am not talking about Ric) T & A always wins.

I even do pest control for a guys that do pest control, and I love every minute of it. ......... As a matter of fact I might make that my signature here.

I bet if you took a look at my T & A, you too would be signing up for my special 20 min. $89 bi(monthly) service. BTW woman love me too cause I understand their needs, and I am not in a big hurry to get to my next job (got to make that $3 an hour big money mentality). Why would I be.

Anyway, love to join the circle jerk you girls are doing here, but I got to finish my nails, and get out there by 10 to keep my customers happy (and drooling).

Cheryl I dont believe that you fully understand what you are working with.
Some of the chemicals you use are caustic and can melt the skin right off of your precious T&A. Others can cause permanent blindness, respiratory problems, birth defects or even making it so you cannot get pregnant at all.

Ric, it would not have to be a members only per say. You would just have to provide Sean with your license.
In my state giving advise as to what chemical and how much to an unlicensed applicator is in violation of the pesticide law.
Cheryl has the wrong idea. She thinks that every comment against her is because she is a woman. That is far from the truth. We have many females around here that apply pesticides. But the difference is that they do it safely and legally.

Hey Girls,

Just getting back on the computer. Been out on the boat doing a little cruising.

First, It is very difficult to spray without an I.D card (required in Florida). You cant get an I.D. card unless a CPO requests it for you. You can probably spray your friends and family, and maybe other people (the dumb ones) at night. But, if you are trying to support yourself and family, forget it. Too many people watching (Terminix is one of them). The inspectors I know say most of the time they are catching the techs (with I.D. cards) and CPOs that are breaking the law.

As for me working in "short shorts"; I do use my T & A as much as I can, but within the letter of the law; I also never said I wore then to spray lawns.

Anyway, Gotta go. Late for church. Many troubled souls need pest control.

Ta. Ta.

P.S. Don't worry about me. Worry about the techs that drink all night, and spray all day.

May I be the first to welcome the new Cheryl to Lawsuit. Here we Exchange Information and Ideas. We don't always agree. But we all learn. I can only wish that you learn as much as I have here at LS. Please feel free to asks or answers any question you want. The only dumb question is the one not asked.

Cheryl you are right about Florida BEPC Inspectors, their real job is to keep Licensed Companies in line. However that takes up most of their time and so they don't go after the illegals like they should. Since my background is a degree in Criminal Justice and 21 years in a branch of law enforcement now retired, I am zealous about the Law.

PS Does T & A stand for Talent & Ambition??

Oops the word Lawsuit above was a typo. Lawnsite was what I wanted to say.

My great, great, great grand children :D tell me that term Girls is the "in thing". However I personally am of an era that doesn't like being called "girls". How about "Members". In general we call each other by our Screen names which in my case is the same as my real name. Nice to have you on board.
