What's the best way to record a down payment on a proposal/estimate in QB online? I have a proposal for $14,668 for which I took a $7000 down payment. Now I see I could/should have done it as a 50% but I just rounded to $7K. How do I record this?

You create the invoice
Charge the customer for the whole price of the job
Then apply the $7000 payment
They owe the rest

Yep. And if you do a printout (or email) the invoice will say original price, payments made, and balance due.
