Hello everyone-This is just my second post ,glad to be here...

:hammerhead: :hammerhead: Went to replace the belt on a 21inch self-propelled yardmachines mower and darn it,
It looks like you got to take the whole drive-train apart just to get the belt off..
Any one have any experience with these..I got to be missing something here-before I pull all this stuff apart..

    Okay Techs..
    This is what I got..
    21inch walk behind
    6.5HP Briggs
    Model #12A-979L401
    Serial #1K199B20377
    Here is my Story,,
I Bought this machine at a yard sale. The owner had some how managed to snap one of the wheels off.I replaced the wheel, pawl, pawl ratchet, screw that hold the wheel on.Okay wheel fixed mower works. Then on my first yard we could not get the self propell feature to work. After inspection we discovered that the self
propell cable was not attached to the pulley assembly.we attached the cable-
(this is the cable that engages the transmission-not the 6 speed cable)..Now when
we engage the self propell lever still nothing.I was told to replace the belt. This is where I am now..Also I JUST FIGURED OUT THE BELT WILL COME OFF between the mower body and the top of the pulley-but darn its tight..

also the 6sp control arm was only supported by the cable when I pulled the baffle..I will inspect the washers and the spacers..
Hopefully the belt change out will fix this..

Any help will be greatly appreciated..
