Hydro Gear Pump problems after servicing

I have a Hydro Gear BDP-10L-117P on a Lesco walk behind mower. It was leaking fluid at the trunnion seal so I decided I would replace the seal. I got a seal kit and took it apart and replaced all the seals in the pump. Put it all back together and now the wheel will not turn. I tried to bleed the system many times by opening the release valve and moving the controls back and forth. When I look in the fluid tank the fluid going back in looks foamy and has bubbles. So I assume air is getting into the system somewhere. Where exactly can air get in? There is one suction hose going to the pump in between the two hoses going to the motor. How do I check to find where air is getting in? Any advise would be great cause i dont want to spent $500 on a new pump.

I tightened the suction line really tight and I cleaned the fitting out. Is it possible for air to enter between the top mounting plate and the lower housing of the pump? There is a gasket there that I replaced. This is driving my crazy, i checked all the fittings and cleaned everything and it still doesnt work.
I have the mower up on blocks, I opened the release valve and moved the controls back and forth about 5 times. Then I closed the release valve and the wheel turns very slow for a few seconds then it comes to a stop. I have tried that numerous times with the same result. And as I pull the controls to move the wheel forward i see foam appearing in the fluid tank.
I dont know if I put it on correct or not. Are you talking about the block that is held on with two allen screws. It is oval and I remember looking at it when I put it on and it looked the same if i turned it one way or the other. Is there a difference on wich way it is turned?
Yes, a huge difference. The hsg is actually eccentric. Also, did the put the charge pump relief spring and ball in the correct place and in the correct orientation? The ball goes in the pump, and the spring goes in the hsg. The correct gasket or o-ring for the cover is critical also. If you didn't pre-fill the pump, you could have created a dry start situation, possible internal damage and it will take forever to bleed (if at all)
I did put the ball and spring in the way you stated. And I did replace the gasket for the cover with a brand new one. I DID NOT pre fill the pump when I initially put it back together. I took the cover back off a second time and it is now filled with oil. Do you think I damaged the pump by not pre-filling it?

Okay, I am stupid, I put the top cover on backwards. I took it off turned it around. As soon as I fired up the mower the wheels started to spin. It works great now. At first glance the top cover looks the same if turned both ways but now that I looked at it closely I see that it is eccentric. Do you think that did any damadge to the pump by having the cover on backwards??????????? I hope not. Thanks for the help.!!
