    Fellow lawn care enthusiasts,

I have found a local Walker 2002 grass handling system, Model MS-GHS with an air cooled 11.1 HP Kawasaki FE 350D, 1 Cyl OHV. There are around 530hrs, 42" deck, and an extra thatcher included. The seller would like $3800 but would take $3500. The price sounds fine but I don't know much about the motor and how well an 11hp engine will hold up. There are lots of slopes in Mid-Missouri so keep that in mind too.

    My question is:
    -What is worth?
-Could you tell me a little bit about the engine is it reliable or problematic?
-How long should one expect this motor to last?
-What should I look for when I view/demo the mower?

Any other insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

For what it is worth, I bought a 2002 model C, 19 horse Kohler, side discharge 48 in deck with under 300 hours for $3,000 last year.

My personal opinion is that he is out of line with his price. The 11hp is basically a home use mower. I wouldn't consider anything under 16hp. I would continue to look for a better deal.

Thanks for the responses! I thought the 11hp was probably not enough, but have heard a lot of bad things about Kohler engines with not getting enough oil to the motor while running on steep slopes for example. I am intrigued by Walker's cut quality, but certainly would consider something else with similar cut but reliability and quality of cut is my main concern.

I had a walker with the 16 with the splash lube, did fine for commercial use. My first walker was the old briggs 10 I/C engine...and it did fine but in heavy stuff it was not enough grunt...I'm currenlty rebuilding one from 88 with 7000 hours showing on the clock....and its in great shape, low compression on the engine though

I can't imagine the kawi is much better in the power department but I though the Kawi was 13hp.. and not 11...in which case 13 would be better.... but the ms is the base model...and even with the small engine barely commercial comes to mind...

I'll look into the actual hp to make certain, it is quite possible that the homeowner made a mistake. 11hp sounds quite unusual to me.

Is it possible to purchase a larger Kawasaki motor if the current, smaller hp, motor craps out? If so what would that be to replace, ballpark?

    Thanks a lot.

i think the 13hp kawi re power was close to 1300... you are very limited on your repower optinos walkers are pretty parts specific...

If it is a 2002 it's a 13hp Kawasaki. This is a good engine if maintained. $3000 - $3500 is good price if machine is clean. Check inside blower & under deck for wear. Make sure hydro's are good.
