just running along fine, then it dies and won't start. was cutting tall weeds and deck was loading up. pushed over to the shed and started in on her. pulled gas tank and cleaned out; strained the gas, checked the fuel shutoff valve. all good now. next day, started and ran 10-15 secs. then died. pulled plugs and no spark. regapped and tried again, no go. stressed out and quit. next day the same action, starts and runs briefly then dead. rechecke plugs by grounding against shroud, no spark. will pull tank and start towards the magnetron on this horizontally opposed engine. remove the driveshaft from engine coupling to 90 degree box to gain access. will i need any spec. tools for the flywheel removal or can i get to the coil just by removing the screen? steve64052.

Coil is under the blower housing. No need to remove the flywheel. Adjust the air gap with a business card. Coil costs about $50.00 OEM. Sounds like you have it under control.

got the new coil in and the machine fired right off. lotta pieces to take off and put back on, but that's the way it goes. just nuts and bolts. many thanks to khouse for the repair tip. gotta go cut a month old growth on the back acre. will probably take a couple extra go arounds. thanks, steve.
