Anyone out there taken the plunge?

    Thoughts and experiences??

Test drove one today and I was pleasantly surprised. I m nervous that this is International's first plunge into mid range trucks since the mid seventies.

I do recall that Navistar (the company that owns International) was in a deal to buy General Motors' medium duty truck line from them a couple of years back. Something happened right at the end and the deal never went through. I kind of found it odd that if they already owned the International brand that they would want GM's medium duty line.

I'd also look at Hino. I had a vendor who used medium duty Hino trucks for delivery vehicles and he sworn by them. Hino is owned by Toyota.

I also did some looking around on the internet and it sounds like GM is planning on re-entering the medium duty truck market with some new trucks late next year sometime...... maybe worth waiting if you're not in that big of a hurry.

something screwy with the union on the GM deal so GM's mid duty vanished. International saw the need and brought their own to market. I loved the GM mid duties--in fact probably my first choice however this seems to be more truck based on my drive today

Your fuel payments will exceed what your bank payments will be on that truck, its the same motor they had in the 2008-10 ford super duty. You would be better served to buy an f550 with the newer diesel motor. At least you'll get 12mpg with that one!

I wouldnt buy one , look at all the problems the Navistar engines had in the ford trucks . The Hino is a nice truck as is the new 4500 -5500 dodge . I like the isuzu but the lack of saftey equipment in them takes them off the list. Around here all the tow trucks have gone to the hino and dodge. Those guys work a truck pretty good and rack up some miles quickly.

also for those referencing the ford navistar collaboration to my knowledge this was only on the cab over design and this was an epic FAIL....I was told to approach this not so much as a little truck expanded but a heavy duty truck shrunk down.

On the volenteer fire department I belong to we have a 2010 Workstar with a 3000 gallon water tender.

While it is quite a bit bigger than the truck you're looking at it is a good truck. We haven't had any issues to speak of.

The Terrastar does look like a GM knockoff in a way.
