Right now all but one of them are all less than 5 years old. I bought the oldest one used. It's a 2001 and it currently has about 75k miles on it. All but one has the GM 5.7L / 6.0L gas drivetrain in them. One of them has the little 4cyl diesel in it. I haven't really decided at what point we will sell them. I kind of have a 10 year rule where I sell the trucks once they hit 10 years in age regardless of the mileage. My reasoning is that at at point they are still in good enough shape that I can get decent money for them. Aside from tires and general maintenance I haven't had any issues. I think we have done brakes on two of the trucks. I'm sure that the gas motors will never go as long as the diesel will but on the one with 75k miles I've never had any issues and it's the older 5.7L vortec motor.

Our truck finally came in. So far I really like it. Visibility is awesome, the power is really great and it seems like a well built truck. That being said, we haven't put it to the test yet. I will give you an update in a few weeks once we break it in. We probably won't equip it with a plow and sander till fall time.

Nice truck, How much does the truck weight empty with the box, GVW and GCWR?

funny you are having this discusion, I am just now seeing it.

I spent all fall and early winter researching and pondering this exact topic. I drove and researched ALL of the mid size trucks in this class with dealers in our area. I have pricing down to the last spec an all of them. After narrowing it down to the terra star or a 550 (19,500) we decided on the 550 which will be here in a week or so.

Way to much to type here so call me anytime. What it came down to was versatility, build and payload. We ended up the same money in the end.. In this class we still need a truck that can go anywhere...not having 4by4 in this class in vt is a big risk as far as I'm concerned..fill sites, job sites even the old intervale gets VERY greasy as you know in early spring and late fall never mind thinking of winter. good luck

Congrats on the truck--I m still researching and we have changed thought processes since we first began the search in late January. I have access to several fill sites and yes some can be sketchy, but I have one that is not a problem ever (read even in last spring rains). My compost arrangement is fairly solid as well. I m concerned that the way I load a truck 19500 isn't going to be big enough--so now we are looking into the 25500 area and staying right under the CDL line---sure no trailers at that weight, but we have a plan for that. I m actually looking now in the used market out of state and found several good options....time will tell. I usually get new stuff mid to late summer, stay tuned. Congrats again

Great looking truck. Any updates on how it's performing? What kind of fuel mileage are you getting. Looked at one of these the other day and was very impressed, but a little weary of the 'ole 6.4 in it.
