I need some help from all the lawn gurus out there. I am a home owner in North Carolina and I have a nice piece of lawn. As most of you, I like to keep it up and show it off. It had existing grass when i moved in which was fine leafed and a good shade of green. Now this season a more broad leafed intruder has appeared and is rapidly spreading. He is much coarser and not good to look at. I have tried to hit him with the broad leaf killer spray, but it had no effect. I guess my question as a new homeowner is: 1) what type of lawn is my existing lawn? - I dont know what type of seed to get to reseed with. I bought a bag of scott's mix which is mostly tall fescue and a little ryegrass. Should I use it or do something else? 2) what is this new intruder? 3) how can I get rid of the invasive grass without killing my lawn? I really thank you folks for any help you can give me on this one.
