I had a new irrigation system installed last year. Is preparing the system for operation this Spring something I should be able to do myself?

Does anyone have any tips so as to not cause any damage? My system is a Hunter with six zones.

    Thanks in advance!

There really aren't any dangers when you open it up.
Just make sure that all the valves are closed in the box or boxes because you'll get a serious vibration from the diaphrams in them there won't be enough pressre to seat them.
The other thing is to make sure depending on how the installer plumbed it, that any /all of the sill cocks are closed before you open the main supply to the system.

There will be 2 ball valves on the backflow one before the diaphram and one after...close the last one(after) the top of the backflow closet to the system and open the main supply this will seat the diaphram and when you get outside just open the last valve and the system will be purged.

Manually run the system from the clock and you should be fine
