I have a friend that wants me to thicken their lawn. They currently have bermuda grass and per. rye. They just moved into a new subdivision and the yard is on clay slope. The weather is currnetly in the high 90's to 100. They are having a party in one month and asked me what they should do. They have not fertalized, weed and feed, anything. Just water and that has done nothing. I was thinking of aerating, possibly overseeding bermuda(even though its late), then applying some type of fertalizer. I asked another person today and they said they would have to water every 2 hrs to keep the seed from drying out. I am not sure. I am not doing this yard for a profit, but to learn and to make it a reference for the future. Also, if i end up reseeding, would it be ok to put rye down to, or just do that in the fall. I would guess in the fall. Or should i just aerate and fertalize and see what happens.
