Is it really worth it?

I have a John Deere HD45 Walkbehind. It has about 1000 hours. The right hydro is very weak and not as responsive as the left. I believe it is on its way out the door. To fix this unit I am looking at $1000 in parts and $250 in labor. If I choose not to fix it I would be stuck using a 48"GHS on my Walker the rest of the season. To get a 52" deck for the Walker is $2300. I do have a 42" mulch deck but that is very small for my size yards. What would you do? I have the feeling I should just take it to an auction and get the most I can from it.
