it's a 2001 kubota zd18 with 900-1000 hours. it has the 3 bag bagger as well.
i've used it commercially and i'm thinking it will make a great mower for a homeowner.

i'm thinking of selling it for $6000

i had a offer from craigslist saying he would offer $5k i replied saying i was firm on my price of $6000 he said he was still interested.

should i be asking more for this machine? or should i try talk this guy into buying it for $6000?

you say it would be a good mower for a homeowner. you can buy a GOOD Homeowner model Brand New for $3 -$4,ooo why would a homeowner but one 6 yrs old for that price ? maybe its just me but if i'm buying for home use i would buy a good top of the line HOMEOWNER Model for 3 or 4,000 first. but other then that you ask if its worth what you're asking for it, well it's worth ONLY what someone else is willing to pay for it.

All it takes is one person to buy it. But IMO most homeowners don't want to spend a ton of money on a lawn mower, they just want one that will cut their grass for a while. Why buy a used 6k mower when they can go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a new Deere for under 3k?

but this baby is a commercial diesel! i mean which homeowner wouldn't like to brag that they have a diesel mower.

this machine would probably cost $12k with tax if bought new. these kubota are known to go 3000-4000

i'm not sure who this guy is maybe he's a LCO

You almost have to look at it like your selling a car. The car might have cost 50K new but when it is 6 years old it surely isn't going to be worth 25k, try more like 15k depending on the condition, that has depreciated 70%. I bought a 2 year old Bob-Cat mower with under 1000 hours on it and paid under half the value of it new. Theres my 2 cents for you.

$5000 is a fair price. Ask your dealer for the book value . Used mowers are a tough sell. Commercial cutters dont buy them and homeowners cant afford them. And if they can ,they will buy new.

Where in MN are you? Not sure about price - always find a buyer will to pay your price is tough but I here ya with the diesel. To me a home owner is not going to go diesel cuz they probably own a 5000K - 1/4 lot. They'll go the lowes, depot, sears and say I have a new mower! You need the maybe commercial guy/large estate/farmer to buy this machine.
