I have a gentleman trying to sell me a Woods machine, which Im not too familiar with. It's about 11 yrs old,48", he bought it new for his home use. It has a 12hp Kohler, which he claims would be rated much higher by todays standards...I know nothing about that either. Comes with extra blades and that's about all I know. he says the deck is real thick compared to todays units....i'm going to go look myself here very look very clean

He's asking that close? Its in OH if that matters.

Im only familiar with belt driven units, esp the Exmark we use.

    Is this a walk behind???

I assume so, never knew Woods sold a W/B mower...

12hp is 12hp. dosn't matter if it was yesterday or 20 years ago.

Also, decks werent' made as heavy back 10+ years ago as they are today. Most today are 7 or 8 gage steel.

Personally I feel that's way underpowered for a 48" cut, 14 is minimum, 16 to 18 is the best. You could buy a brend NEW Lesco belt drive for $2,600, or hydro for $3,600. I think hes pretty high on the price, and then trying to sell a bill of good on top of that by saying that the mowers of yester year were better...
