Is this a good deal on a truck?

    92 ford F350 Dumping rack body with 8.5 foot plow (fisher I think) rebuilt trans last year. Seller says has some rust but nothing major. Rust is on fenders etc not frame. Seller wants $7000.
    I've seen F250's with plows go for $7000 that are like 1997's but those are with regular beds.

    Mileage, Cab, Motor, Rear End, Auto tran.? More info please.

    7.3 diesel non turbo standard cab 180K miles auto tranny not sure about the rear end ratio.

    7 grand seems awful high for a vehicle with 180k miles of it, especially a 92.

    Even the fact that it has a plow should only be given the consideration of about 500.00 either way. I would get it down to 6 grand, max.

    I'm going to look at it today at 6:30 I'll take a few pics of it. The seller has all records done to the tranny and says it's been rebuilt with all heavy duty parts. There is nothing in this area for sale that has a dump rack body on it. I've been looking for a while now.

    i think the price is a bit high, even for a diesel. my buddy bought a 94 f350 mason dump turbo diesel 5spd for $9k last year. that had 90K (i believe). i wouldn't go non-turbo either.

    I think I would pass. Too old, too many miles, too much money. Sure 180k on a diesel is not that uncommon, but these are hard plowing/heavy hauling miles. It would also be my guess that the front end will need rebuilt which cost big bucks, any news on the fuel injectors or glow plugs? They get real pricey real quick also. And my buddies 7.3L is real cold blooded.

    Well thanks for the info guys. I went to look at it and it was pretty raggedy. The chassis was solid with no rust but there where too many little things that bothered me like the simple fact a back window was broken and not even taped up. The truck had a damp smell that would drive me crazy for months. The interier was aweful. Dirty and never vaccumed. From a distance it looked like a good truck though and it probly is but I know i wouldn't be happy with it. The shifter was tight too. I think too tight. Putting it into gear took a hard pull on the shifter. I might offer him $4000 if i don't find any thing else.
