There is no bad time to advertise, you want to get your name out there and start to build a customer base.
Most people already have their lco's lined up for the season by now, but if someone is unhappy with the service they are receiving they will be shopping around.
But late winter early spring is the norm.

We find customers shopping for a new service when the college and high school boys are heading back to school. Be sure to mention leaf removal. Start advertising that you are year-round, full service in mid-July and people looking for reliable service will call.

Anything, anytime, anywhere, anyhow is a marketing opportunity. Never stop marketing yourself.

We just started a late season advertising campain. It's kind of unsettling to advertise when there has not been rain for two months and many lawns are not growing. I hope the rains get back to normal soon. Our promotion includes snow removal so we should get advance bookings on that too. I'm also hoping to get some of the accounts, as mentioned above, with kids going back to college. Lastly, I think there are always a lot of folks willing to change LCOs due to poor service. If I get my name out there and give free, no obligation estimates, I'll pick up a few. You don't know how many times some woman has told me she hated her company but felt like she didn't have many options. Kind of strange, but true.

Phone book yellow page advertizing is a year around deal. I found that a better class (for the most part) of customers called me from that advertizing than any other.
