Is too narrow a diamond pattern a bad pattern choice?

It's been years and years since I mowed greens, tees and fairways.

I recall mowing two directions perpendicular, so that the view would look like rectangles, or diamonds.

But I don't recall if I mowed at at angle that made a narrow diamond pattern, where the diamond was longer one way than the width the other way.

Yesterday, I passed near a lawn near the Tigard, Oregon, Home Depot, and I was looking at a diamond pattern where the diamonds were longer one way than the other. I was looking down the length.

It looked sort of bad. I couldn't figure if it was because some tire marks were still visible, or just because perpendicular directions are the way to go.

So you folks who do a bunch of this pattern cutting, what's your take on diamonds. Any angle better than another?
