I have a John Deere 210 that has been my pet project and home utility machine for 20 years. For the past decade I have primarily used it to run the snowblower, but today I wanted to try the blades again and the clutch will not engage. It seems like its not "grabbing" when I go to engage the clutch. Anyone know much about the older JD's and what I am getting myself into. Thanks much. Jimmy

Best to check if the blades are free to rotate. Make sure engine is turned off and in neutral with hand brake on. Raise the deck to the highest cut and reach under the deck to see if the blades rotate. They should not spin free, but turn smoothly with some resistance. If they've not been use for awhile they might have become temporary seized.
When you try to engage the clutch is there any clicking from under the deck?

Are all the belts fitted ok?
More info from you could help.
    Good luck Phil :usflag:
