I am thinking of purchasing a pressure washer from lowes, mainly because of the discounts made available to me through prior purchases, i am wanting something to mainly pressure wash houses and decks but would also like to do some concrete or asphalt washing, has anyone used the John Deere 3800 psi 4.0 gpm pressure washer? any input is great thanks

It's ok for a starter, but it's not even close to a commercial washer. It's like comparing a Murry mower to a Exmark. Keep in mind that washing is not always about psi, but more about gpm.

It has a Honda engine which is good, it's just the pump that scares me it's not a name brand I recongnize, not sure how long it will last for you. Direct drive units typically aren't the choice of the professionals if it's going to get used frequently. 4gpm isn't bad but definitely the minimum that you'd want.

If you're only using it here and there and your getting a deal on it then go for it.

what are you planning to use it for ?
the honda motors are very very good ...... i like the CAT pumps
make your purchase based upon the motor and pump not the company of the machine... i also own a car detailing business and from my experience the honda motors and CAT pumps are a good combo (DEWALT makes them) (most of my machines are in between $800 and $1000 ) the more you spend the bigger the pump and motor and higher the psi, for heavy duty porch and concrete cleaning you are definitely going to want to go with a machine closer to $2000 or more
take a look at the dewalt models of pressure washers, the one you selected would be a good starter model

    good luck
