Found one local to me and am going to check it out Saturday. Anything specific to look for on this model? It's 48" Pro deck w/22 hp Kawasaki. Planned to check oil and air filter. Then run it through a normal startup procedure, etc. Never owned a Deere so just curious.

Just be aware that that machine is actually 19 HP, but it should still be fine with the 48" deck.
Look down underneath at the rear of each hydro and see if they are all oil covered from wet oil or just weeping from the gaskets which seems common on commercial hydros.
Look down through the two screens under the seat at each side and see if the fan is filled with dirt in all the little recesses on top of the fan and if the top of the hydros is dirt covered. If so, they may be a bit weak from over heating etc. That's a may be though and not set in stone.
Look at the air filters and the inside of the canister. Is it quite dirty or fairly clean inside....
Does the condition match the hours etc
Does the pto engage easily and every time like it should?
Check all the obvious stuff like the deck skirt for bends etc
If you can, raise the front end and wiggle the front caster wheels around. Do they move real easy or are they somewhat stiff. If real easy, they may not have been greased very often. Do they wiggle side to side like the bearings are worn etc etc.
How dirty is the engine? If it is kinda dirty, there's areal chance that the previous owner never took the shroud off and cleaned the cooling fins on the engine block.

I realize that you said you would be checking some of this stuff in your post, but others reading along may find some of it helpful too.
