why doesnt eXmark try to get K&N to build some re-usable air filters for thier mowers? seems like there would be a huge market for them.

Thanks for the post. I'm not really sure why that hasn't been pursued in the past but to day the canister filters may have some advantages.

The canister type filters are in some cases a "no maintenance" item. In region where dust is less of an issue and the cutting season is often a little shorter the filters last for an entire season and are then discarded and replaced with a new filter. Most of the oil/cotton type filters that are washable would most likely require service daily, weekly or monthly depending upon conditions unless they were utilized in a canister type application.

By reducing the required service the canister filters also reduce the incidence of improper installation.
