Kawasaki burning oil

This engine has 2190hrs on it and burns 2.5 ounces of 20w50 per hour. It smokes for a few minutes on start up then clears up. On some kohler's you can rough up cylinder and put rings in.

My question is...had anybody rebuilt a kawasaki of this vintage and had success?

Repower it. Call jackssmallengines.com for a quote w/ that full code on the placard.

YOu can try the rebuild kit, but when you do your cylinder hone and cross thatch remember that you're taking some off the cylinder. You likely have enough wear in that cylinder that your new rings are gonna wear fast anyway. Is it worth the 4 hours shop time to do it? Maybe. Keep in mind as well it could be other things that's causing your oil loss.

Could be a head gasket. Maybe worn out valve guides. I agree with rippinryno

I'd do more troubleshooting before I tore it apart.
