kawasaki dip sticks

    has anyone gotten a shorter dip stick by mail from the kawasaki folks? i have the fh680v -23 hp.seems this engine needs 200cc's more oil to prevent abnormal wear. i hope the 540 hrs i've already logged has not done any damage.the ole sayin' "better late than never"

    If it hasn't already done any damage it won't anytime in the future. You would see oil smoke all of the time if there were damage from running low on oil. The engine may very well also have a pronounced knock. 200cc is only 12.8 tablespoons or 6.4 fl oz of oil. This is about the amount of oil between the full and add mark on the dipstick, maybe less.

    I know that some kawi motors are junk, but geesh, thats no way to talk about their employees.

    Yeah, I got my new dipstick yesterday. As long as you check the level regularly, and maintain it at full, you won't have any problems.
    I think the problems were associated with people who ran their equipment with the oil level on the low end, even though it may have been in the safe operating range.
