    had a dealer tell me today that the 19 hp, 21 hp, and 23 hp kawasaki commerical engines all have the same specs, and bore...

    anyone know if this is true?

    can you tell a big difference between a 21 hp and a 23 hp kawasaki on a zero turn?

    about to but a 2007 toro z450 and need to decide by tonight if i should spend the extra $400 for the 23 hp instead of the 21.... both have turboforce decks apparently.

    If it is the 52" deck, I would go with the 23 Kawi.

    I have never had a problem with power.

    That's an interesting point and question. Here are the specs on the three.
    http://www.kawpowr.com/4cycle/horiz_fh601d.asp for 19HP

    http://www.kawpowr.com/4cycle/horiz_fh641d.asp for 21 HP

    http://www.kawpowr.com/4cycle/horiz_fh680d.asp for 23 HP

    Mine is the 23 HP, but all three have:
    Bore & Stroke = 2.96 x 2.99 in
    displacement = 675 cc
    compression ration = 8.1:1
    weight = 94.8 lbs

    But the maximum torques are different and, of course, the top HP is different at the higher RPMs. So it seems that if you will never run the engine at top RPM, you may not need the 21 or 23 HP versions. It's up to you if you want to spend the extra $400.

    It is common for engine manufacturer's to use the same block (bore, stroke, displacement) for several different hp ratings. It may have a different carburetor or other enhancement. This lowers production cost.

    Get the big engine, I have yet to see someone complain about too much power.

    talked to the guy today and he said he used to work for kawasaki... had the certifcation and some certificates on the wallas to prove it so i guess hes ligit

    he said there is some sort of butterfly control on the carb or engine and all you would have to do is shave it down alittle and you could make you 19 hp up to a 25 hp... nice info huh. :weightlifter:
